WP Accessibility Day 2025 is Seeking Volunteers

  • News

WP Accessibility Day 2025 has announced an open call for volunteers to help run the upcoming 24-hour online event focused on web accessibility. This free, non-profit global event, dedicated to raising awareness and sharing best practices for building accessible websites using WordPress, will take place on October 15, 2025.

The Various Volunteer Roles Available

Volunteers are needed before, during, and after the event. Opportunities include:

  • Emcees – the responsibilities include introducing speakers, engaging with live Q&A, and making event announcements. Interested folks who apply should be fluent in English.
  • Session Moderators – ensuring sessions run smoothly by enforcing the Code of Conduct and making sure the audience uses the Q&A section for all their questions.
  • Lobby Moderators / Volunteer Point-of-Contact – This role involves making sure volunteers log in on Slack ahead of their shifts and keeping an eye on the Lobby Chat to handle any Code of Conduct matters or technical support questions.

Now there are positions after the event that need volunteers, and they include:

  • Post-event video reviewers – checking final session videos for accuracy in captions, ASL synchronization, and overall quality. Those who apply to volunteer for this role should be proficient in English.
  • Translators – Responsibilities include reviewing and refining translated transcripts. Paid translation roles are currently available for Spanish (Latin America) and French (Europe), though volunteers fluent in other languages are encouraged to apply.

Those interested can apply immediately and become a part of the initiative.
