WordCamp Asia 2026 WP Campus Connect Scholarship Sponsor Applications Now Open

  • News

Anand Upadhyay (co-founder of WP Campus Connect) has announced a pilot WordPress Campus Connect Scholarship for WordCamp Asia 2026 to support student participation at WordCamp Asia 2026.

The program focuses on students who began their WordPress journey through Campus Connect and remained engaged within the WordPress community.

Scholarship Overview

The scholarship aims to assist WordPress Campus Connect students to participate in WordCamp Asia 2026. WP Campus Connect is an initiative led by Anand Upadhyay and Pooja Derashri to introduce WordPress to students and strengthen local communities.

For the pilot phase, eligibility is limited to WordPress Campus Connect participants, with students being nominated by Campus Connect organizers instead of applying on their own, as highlighted: โ€œ For this pilot, the scholarship will focus specifically on WordPress Campus Connect event participants. Students will be nominated by Campus Connect organizers, rather than applying directly.โ€

Nominations will be reviewed by a community selection panel, which will choose recipients based on their interest in WordPress and potential to contribute, continued involvement following Campus Connect activities, and how attending WordCamp Asia could support their development and future participation in the project.

What the Scholarship Covers

While final arrangements depend on secured sponsorship, the scholarship is expected to cover travel support, accommodation for the length of WordCamp Asia, and an event ticket.

In its first year, the scholarship aims to support up to three WordPress Campus Connect students.

Scholarship Sponsorship Packages

Two sponsorship options have been outlined, designed to be smaller than standard WordCamp packages while still providing visibility and impact.

The WP Campus Connect Scholarship Partner tier is priced at USD 3,000 and is expected to support one or more full scholarships, depending on travel expenses. The sponsor recognition may include their logo and name on the WordCamp Asia closing ceremony slide, in the blog post announcing recipients, and in related Campus Connect updates, with the option to provide a short sponsor statement.

The WP Campus Connect Scholarship Supporter tier is available at USD 1,000 and contributes partial funding toward a scholarship, with multiple supporters potentially combining to fund student recipients.ย

Supporter recognition may include name listings on the closing ceremony slide and in the recipient announcement post.

Anand also stated that the specific forms of sponsor recognition will be finalized in line with WordCamp Asia and WordPress community guidelines, โ€œ All final sponsor benefits and presentation will follow WordCamp Asia and WordPress community guidelines and will be confirmed with the organizing team.โ€

Companies or individuals interested in sponsoring the scholarship can fill out the sponsor interest form now, and organizers will follow up later. The application deadline is February 13.

Anand also highlighted that submission does not guarantee sponsorship and final decisions depend on timing and guidelines: โ€œPlease note that submitting the form does not guarantee inclusion as a sponsor; final decisions will depend on timing, capacity, and alignment with WordCamp sponsorship guidelines.โ€

Currently, there are three education initiatives that focus on students and introducing them to WordPress and the various opportunities: WordPress Campus Connect, Credits, and Student Clubs.
