- The Training team wants to draw new learners to the new Learn.WordPress.org: They are gathering ideas on which recurring activities the team should prioritize first, with the goal of bringing more learners to the site. Please provide your feedback by September 10, 2024. The Learn WordPress was also redesigned a few weeks ago.
- What’s new in Gutenberg 19.1: The latest version includes a new plugin template registration API, improvements to the image caption styles, and various other enhancements.
- Yelp sues Google, alleging illegal dominance of local search: The lawsuit alleges illegal monopoly practices related to local search and local search advertising.
- Google Analytics 4 introduces benchmarking data: This new feature will provide valuable context for advertisers trying to understand their performance relative to their peers, potentially informing strategic decisions and goal-setting.

The two themes are Betheme theme and Enfold. The Betheme theme contained a PHP Object Injection vulnerability and was recently patched. The Enfold theme suffers from stored cross-site scripting (XSS) and is yet to be patched.
- GitHub users targeted by new wave of spambots promoting malicious downloads: GitHub users are reporting a new influx of spambots hitting their issues with comments that link to malicious executables.
- WordPress Elementor widgets add-on vulnerability: Jeg Elementor Kit recently patched an XSS vulnerability and users are advised to update to the latest version immediately.

- AnyoneCanWP Hackathon from InstaWP: This is the World’s first WordPress online hackathon, brought to you by InstaWP, and is set to run from October 11-26, 2024. The first-place winner will be awarded $3,000, the second-place winner will earn $1,500, and the third-place winner will receive $500.
- Kinsta gets ISO 27001 certification: In August 2024, after completing a full year of SOC 2 monitoring, Kinsta received certification for data security and privacy controls specified by the International Standards Organization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). ISO 27001 specifies the controls required to safeguard the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information in an organization.
- All new Indie UI: A free collection of React and Tailwind CSS UI components for building web applications.
- Introducing the new CLI: This allows users to install anything from anywhere, and add components, themes, hooks, functions, animations, and generated code to your apps. The CLI now has support for all major React frameworks out of the box: Next.js, Remix, Vite, and Laravel.
- Introducing FundWP: A new initiative by Dave Grey and Andrew Palmer, that focuses on securing consistent funding for WordPress Foundation.
- MonsterSecure security course launched: Kathy Zant and Nathan Ingram have launched MonsterSecure, a user-friendly, expert-led security course that equips agency owners to teach their clients about the essentials to stay safe from hackers.

- WooCommerce 9.3: Pre-release updates: WooCommerce 9.3 will include a remote error logging system, improved wp-admin stability, coming soon mode optimizations, and more.WooCoomerce 9.3 is set to be released on September 10, 2024.
- Reed Gustow passes away: With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Reed Gustow, a cherished member of the WordPress community.
- Anne McCarthy is seeking volunteers to help test the Block Bindings API: Interested folks can join in on the testing program as the Block Bindings API is to receive a substantial update with WordPress 6.7. The testing initiative will ensure that changes are on track while identifying areas needing improvement.
- WP Speed Matters YouTube channel launched: Gijo Varghese, Founder of FlyingPress, has started a new YouTube Channel focusing on WordPress speed optimization with relevant tips, recommendations, performance testing, and advanced optimization techniques.
- The future of LayerWP is uncertain: Ben, the founder of LayerWP, a WordPress product directory and review site has announced on X that, the project might be coming to an end in a year. He has also said that he is open to sponsorship.
- The soft relaunch of the Do the Woo blog: The blog is back and they have opted for a soft launch as they still sorting out a few things and also want to make it more official during WordCampUS 2024.
- An entire portion of the WordPress user base is forever stuck on outdated hardware/software: Daniel Iser notes that the factors behind this are that either the users don’t want to work with Gutenberg or they protest/detect the decisions and process that went into WP 5.0 release.
- Sharon Norah receives the Yoast Care fund for her contribution to the WordPress community: Sharon Norah, a member of the WordPress Community team is the latest recipient of the Yoast Care fund.
