- WordPress 6.1 to add a Block Themes Filter to menu on the theme install screen: This change also introduces two new action hooks:

- Meta introduces new way to schedule Facebook Reels: You can now schedule Facebook Reels with Meta Creator Studio in three simple steps.
- Snapchat+ reaches 1 Million subscribers: After reaching one million paying subscribers, Snapchat+ is adding several new features. Based on features alone, Snapchat+ is off to a better start than comparable subscription service Twitter Blue.
- TikTok‘s launching a new commerce ad suite called Shopping Ads: The platform aims to help shop merchants maximize performance through algorithm-led commerce offerings.

- WooCommerce 6.8.1 fix release: It introduces a fix for a shipping issue introduced in the 6.8.0 release. Please update.
- WordPress Vulnerability Report – August 17, 2022: Regular feature from iThemes
- WordPress sites hacked with fake Cloudflare DDoS alerts pushing malware: WordPress sites are being hacked to display fake Cloudflare DDoS protection pages to distribute malware that installs the NetSupport RAT and the RaccoonStealer password-stealing Trojan.
- Google Search Console bug: Incorrect number of indexed pages: Google fixed an issue causing an incorrect number of indexed pages to be reported in Search Console.
- Update Chrome now to patch actively exploited zero-day: There are 10 other security fixes included in the update. Dark Reading notes that this is Chrome’s fifth zero-day vulnerability disclosed in 2022.
- Google blocks third record-breaking DDoS attack in as many months: Google says it has blocked the largest ever HTTPS-based distributed-denial-of-service (DDoS) attack in June, which peaked at 46 million requests per second.
- Malicious browser extensions targeted over a Million users so far this year: More than 1.31 million users attempted to install malicious or unwanted web browser extensions at least once, new findings from cybersecurity firm Kaspersky show.
