- 2022 Web Almanac Performance Data shows WordPress sites may be overusing lazy-loading: This is surprising as in 5.9, WordPress shipped a fix that more eagerly loads images within the initial viewport while lazy-loading the rest. WordPress has been driving the adoption of this feature, which is why any implementation “anti-pattern,” as Viscomi characterized it, has an outsized effect on the performance of the web.

- Research finds evidence of user dissatisfaction with Google results: New research shows that approximately 30% of users are forced to redo their search queries in order to find what they’re looking for. It may explain why a tweet comparing Google to a dying mall resonated with thousands of people.
- Microsoft launches import tool for Google Ads Performance Max: It allows advertisers to duplicate their Google Ads Performance Max campaigns.

- CSV injection vulnerability in Easy Digital Downloads plugin: The plugin does not validate data when its output in a CSV file, which could lead to CSV injection. This affects versions prior to 3.1.0.2.

- Instagram fixes a bug causing service outages: Instagram fixed a bug causing a service outage that impacted users to varying degrees, as people reported disabled accounts and repeated app crashes.
- Apple patches over 100 vulnerabilities with release of macOS Ventura 13: Exploitation of these vulnerabilities can lead to arbitrary code execution, information disclosure, denial-of-service (DoS), file system modifications, security bypasses, and privilege escalation.
- High-severity vulnerability in GitHub was susceptible to Repo Jacking: This vulnerability was fixed by GitHub following Checkmarx’s report and it’s no longer exploitable, say the researchers.
- Google issues urgent Chrome update to patch actively exploited zero-day vulnerability: Users are recommended to upgrade to version 107.0.5304.87 for macOS and Linux and 107.0.5304.87/.88 for Windows to mitigate potential threats.

- Update WPML before updating to WordPress 6.1: Before updating to WordPress 6.1, you must update WPML and String Translation to avoid breaking your site.
- The WordPress community isn’t ready to leave Twitter: Until Elon Musk makes more radical changes, many WordPress community members see no reason to leave Twitter.
