The RC2 is now available for download and testing.

• WordPress 6.4 RC3 postponed: The release party for WordPress 6.4 Release Candidate 3 has been postponed to November 1, 2023. This has been done to allow time for the team to land three important bug fixes.
• WooCommerce.com rebrands to Woo.com: This domain migration is part of a broader effort to make the “Woo” branding system clearer for merchants, developers, community, and shoppers.
• WordPress 6.4 Field Guide: The field guide for WordPress 6.4 has been published.
• WordPress 6.4’s PHP compatibility: The recommended PHP version for WordPress 6.4 is PHP 8.1 or 8.2.
• Call for 6.4.x Release Managers: The Core Team is looking for volunteers to be a part of the 6.4 maintenance releases.
• Call for volunteers to help with 6.4 end-user documentation: The Docs team is looking for volunteers so as to speed up the completion of the 6.4 end-user documentation. The list of open tasks can be found on the 6.4 project board.
• Plugin updates to SVN issues: The post provides an update on the issue faced by plugin authors where the updates made to their plugins made to SVN are not reflecting the changes on the plugin page.
• What’s new in Gutenberg 16.9?: The latest version allows users to rename almost all the blocks, improvements to pattern management, and includes various other enhancements.
• Nomination for 2024 Training Team Reps: The nominations are now open and will close on 14 November 2023. The voting will commence on 17 November and will end on 6 December 2023.
• Voting for MakeWP Sustainability Team Representatives 2024: Voting will be active from Thursday, October 26 through Thursday, November 9, 2023.
• IndexNow celebrates two years with 1.4 billion URLs submitted daily: As of now, 60 million websites join the platform daily, and an astounding 1.4 billion URLs are submitted each day.

Wordfence Intelligence Weekly WordPress Vulnerability Report (October 16, 2023 to October 22, 2023)

 There were 109 vulnerabilities disclosed in 95 WordPress Plugins and 1 WordPress theme.

• Several critical vulnerabilities patched in AI ChatBot plugin for WordPress: All users of the plugin are to update to the latest version immediately.
• WordPress Vulnerability Report — October 25: Weekly vulnerability report from SolidWP.
• Attackers can use modified Wikipedia pages to mount redirection attacks on Slack: Security researchers at eSentire are calling attention to a new method that attackers can use to redirect business professionals to malicious websites. Described as the Wiki-Slack attack, the new technique uses modified Wikipedia pages and relies on a formatting error when the page is rendered in Slack.

• Introducing PluginTests: The website provides automated smoke tests for WordPress Plugins.
• Matt Mullenweg has been awarded with the Xataka Legend Award:  The 14th edition of the Xataka NordVPN Awards will present Matt Mullenweg with the Xataka Award Legend 2023.
