Anne McCarthy has announced the launch of a new Slack channel called #content-creators, designed to provide a dedicated space for WordPress content creators to connect, collaborate, and share knowledge.
The Vision
Anne McCarthy has highlighted four main purposes of this new Slack channel, and they are:
- Build community by allowing creators to network and learn from one another.
- Provide a platform for feedback from audiences and creators, including insights on content issues, improvements, or bugs.
- Promote awareness of new WordPress features by sharing updates directly to help users adopt and learn them more effectively.
- Support the growth of WordPress by encouraging the creation of more engaging and influential content.
Anne McCarthy emphasized that the channel is an experimental space, intended to evolve as more creators join and contribute, “ This channel is a new experiment aimed at bringing conversations into the open, so more people can benefit and join in. While the above is the initial intent, the space is meant to evolve as more content creators join and a greater understanding of what would be the most useful forms.”
The success of the content creator Slack channel will be reviewed in six months based on membership, engagement, and surveys of participating creators, at which point a decision will be made on whether to continue the dedicated space as highlgihted, “ In six months, the impact of this channel will be revisited (# of channel members, overall engagement, survey of creators to understand if it’s helped them) and a decision will be made whether to continue with having a dedicated space.”
Content creators of all experience levels are encouraged to join the new channel. In the new channel, for the time being, she aims to share updates from Core, reply to queries, and also host hallway hangouts.
