The WordPress Themes team has announced that nominations are now open for its 2026 team representatives. The current team representatives are Shiva Shanker Bhatta, Ganga Kafle, and Alexandru Cosmin and the new representatives will be selected based on the nominations received, with two or three individuals set to serve as the new reps.
Role of Team Representatives
The responsibilities of the team reps will be as follows:
- Representing the Themes team and coordinating communication with other teams
- Posting weekly updates and leading team meetings
- Mentoring theme reviewers and assisting theme authors
- Managing theme listings, including transferring, suspending, or delisting themes when needed
- Maintaining the Theme Check plugin and reviewing patterns
- Keeping track of the team emails and follow-up
Eligibility and Nomination Process
Nominees should be active and trusted members of the WordPress community, with a solid understanding of theme development. To nominate someone, contributors can comment directly on the post, and even self-nominations are allowed.
To nominate someone privately, folks can contact Shiva Shanker Bhatta, Ganga Kafle, and Alexandru Cosmin on Slack. The deadline for submitting nominations is Monday, December 1, 2025.
If there are many nominees and the team can’t decide, a voting process will be held, and details will be posted separately as stated, “ If we receive more nominations and are unable to reach a consensus on the representatives, we will hold a vote, similar to an election. If necessary, we will publish a separate post with detailed information about the voting process.”
