Nominations Open for WordPress Core Team Representatives for 2026

  • News

Nominations are now open for the 2026 Core Team Representatives, who will succeed the current reps, Francesca Marano, Jb Audras, and Benjamin Zekavica.

Responsibilities and Duties of the Team Representatives

Team reps communicate on behalf of the Core team through weekly updates and cross-team chats, and support Contributor Day by identifying Core team members to lead tables at events as highlighted, “Anyone who serves as a team rep is responsible for communicating on behalf of the Core team to the other contributor groups via weekly updates, as well as occasional cross-team chats. Reps are also consulted on Contributor Day, where they help to find someone within the Core team who will be at an event who can lead a Core table.”

Their responsibilities also include posting and hosting weekly Dev Chats, summarizing discussions, tracking WordPress and Gutenberg releases, and monitoring team activity for quarterly updates. The time commitment for the role is estimated at one to two hours per week.

Eligibility and Nomination Process

Nominations are open to all, including self-nominations. The deadline for nominations is February 1, 2026. If fewer than two nominees accept their nominations by that time, the deadline will be stretched.

Once nominations close, a public poll will be opened for voting and will remain open for two weeks. The newly elected Core Team Representatives are expected to begin their roles in February 2026.
