Proposal: The interactivity API – A better developer experience in building interactive blocks
WordPress contributors have proposed a new Interactive API that could be a game changer. The new API helps developers to create interactive blocks that could redefine the user experience.
- WordPress 6.2 “Dolphy” released: The name is inspired by the American jazz musician and instrumentalist Eric Allan Dolphy Jr. This is the first release of 2023 and marks the closure of Gutenberg Phase 2. It introduces a revamped site editor, a distraction-free mode, a new style book, and more.
- Proposal: The interactivity API – A better developer experience in building interactive blocks: WordPress contributors have proposed a new Interactive API that could be a game changer. The new API helps developers to create interactive blocks that could redefine the user experience.
- FSE Program Exploration: Build a block theme: An interesting approach to explore how well the Site Editor can be used as a design tool. By asking the community to build a block theme fully with the Site Editor, the areas of improvement and the user experience can be understood.
- WooCommerce to host virtual Contributor Day: WooCommerce will host a 24-hour virtual contributor day on April 29, 2023. The areas of focus will be WooCommerce core and WooCommerce blocks. This is a 24-hour event and the experience will be similar to the contributor day at WordCamps.

- Call for Testing: Plugin Dependencies UX: The call for basic workflow feedback regarding the Plugin Dependencies feature is open. The testing is stated to last for three weeks.
- Google announces the launch of the new Ads Transparency Center: The Ads Transparency Center has started rolling out and is essentially a searchable database of ads from all verified advertisers. The feature will provide details on all the ads an advertiser has run, the ads that were shown in specific regions, the last date of an ad, and also the format.
- Google has released its 2022 Ads safety report: An insight into the steps taken by Google to make sure its ads platform is not used for malicious intent and how it protects users from frauds and scams.
- Twitter announces new API pricing: Twitter earlier this year announced that in the coming months, it will be updating its API rules and they have finally done it. There are three new tiers, Free, Basic, and Enterprise. The increase in API prices is already affecting various services.
- Google restructures company to prioritize Bard AI chatbot: The AI race is getting strong and Google knows it. Recent reports have suggested that an internal restructuring has happened to focus more on the Bard AI chatbot so as to not fall behind the competition.
- Twitter makes its recommendation algorithm open source: Twitter’s recommendation algorithm is now available on GitHub. With this users can get a clear idea of how everything works behind the scene and how it determines the tweets to be shown in the “ For You” timeline.

Elementor Pro recently patched a critical vulnerability with the release of version 3.11.7. The vulnerability can be taken advantage of when the plugin is used alongside the WooCommerce plugin and it allowed any authenticated users on the site to change the website settings.

- CodeinWP 15-minute challenge to build an educational WordPress website for children: The challenge requires the users to create a website in 15 minutes and submit the URL for both the completed website and the screen recording of the entire process. The winner will take home $1000, the People’s Choice award winner will take home $500 and 8 finalists will receive $200 each.
