- WordPress 6.3 planning proposal & call for volunteers: The proposed timeline for WordPress 6.3 has been published along with the call for volunteers. As of now the proposed release date for the next version is Aug 8, 2023.
- Recap: WordPress 6.1 “Misha” retrospective: A detailed summary of the feedback given by the community for the WordPress 6.1 release process has been published.
- WordPress 6.2 “Dolphy” Retrospective: In order to improve the future WordPress version release process, a feedback form has been released which is open to everyone. The feedback and areas that need improvement will be based on the recent WordPress 6.2 release process.
- Experimental APIs in WordPress Core have largely been tamed: The last year’s proposal to stop merging experimental APIs from Gutenberg to WordPress Core is now implemented. This has been done due to JavaScript limitations which in earlier times resulted in the release of many experimental APIs.
- Contribute to the future of the WordPress app: An update on the changes made to the WordPress app is now live, which includes the removal of a few Jetpack features. The different ways in which the community can contribute to the future of the WordPress app are also provided.
- WordPress contributors continue exploring migration of public and private messages from Slack to Matrix: An update on the progress on replacing Slack with Matrix, an open-source federated chat system has been given by Automattic sponsored contributor Alex Kirk.
- Adding ChatGPT and DeepL in the Translation Memory: ChatGPT and DeepL are now available on translate.wordpress.org.This is an experimental feature and will require an API key to enable them.
- WooCommerce 7.6 released: The latest version of WooCommerce is live and includes new features, performance enhancements, and several bug fixes. There are also two new blocks, the single product details block and also add to cart form block.
- In-browser WordPress tech demos: WordPress development with WordPress playground: Three different methods to create a WordPress plugin with WordPress playground were recently showcased at a hackathon.
- A new space to stay up to date with what’s happening with Google Bard: An experiment updates page is now live which allows everyone to keep track of everything that is being added and changed with Bard.
- Google planning a new search engine while working on new search features under Project Magi: A.I. is stretching its influence on Google, as new reports have suggested that a new search engine powered by A.I. is in the works. Also incorporating A.I. into the existing search engine is also in progress. The initiative comes under Project Magi.

- Privilege escalation vulnerability patched in WP Data Access WordPress Plugin: This flaw makes it possible for an authenticated attacker to grant themselves administrative privileges via a profile update if the targeted site has the ‘Role Management’ setting enabled. The vulnerability was patched with the newest version 5.3.8.
- Wordfence Intelligence Weekly WordPress Vulnerability Report (Apr 3, 2023 to Apr 9, 2023): 97 vulnerabilities were disclosed in 63 WordPress plugins and 5 WordPress themes.

- Yoast SEO 20.5: Improvements and security fixes: The new version includes an updated Google SERP preview and several security fixes, and has also dropped the support for PHP 5.6, 7.0, and 7.1. The new version requires PHP 7.2.5 or higher.
