WooCommerce launches Woo Express

Woo Express is an all-in-one managed solution for e-commerce businesses that use WordPress.coms’ infrastructure. Woo Express was soft-launched in March but access was limited to very few. It is now officially released to the public.

• Gutenberg 15.6 released: The new version introduces an experimental Detail block, new spacing presets for the Spacer block, style variations now accessible in browse mode, and includes various enhancements also.
• Status update on the SQLite project: The code has been completely rewritten to use an SQL Lexer and is now stable and able to handle all WordPress queries properly.
• Cultivating more effective contributing on contributor days: A proposal to make contributor days more effective has been published. The goal is to improve the effectiveness by focusing on the time prior to the event itself.
• WP Translation Playground: Local GlotPress can now be used with WordPress Playground without having to set up anything. This will now allow for quick in-context translation.
• Google Introduces new crawler to optimize Googlebot’s performance: GoogleOther is a new web crawler that has been launched and handles tasks such as R&D crawls. The main goal is to take over the non-essential tasks from Googlebot.
• Google DeepMind: bringing together two world-class AI teams: Google is strengthening its progress in the AI race by combining DeepMind and Google brain.

Massive abuse of abandoned Eval PHP WordPress plugin

The abandoned Eval PHP plugin is being installed on compromised websites by attackers to create backdoors.

• Critical unauthenticated SQL Injection in Quiz And Survey Master: An unauthenticated SQL injection has been patched. Users are advised to update to the latest version.
• Cross-Site Scripting vulnerabilities patched in Weaver products: Cross-site scripting vulnerabilities in Weaver Xtreme theme and Weaver show posts plugins were patched.
• Blubrry addresses authenticated stored XSS vulnerability in PowerPress WordPress plugin: A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability that allowed threat actors with contributor-level permission or higher to inject malicious web scripts was patched on April 10, 2023.
• Wordfence Intelligence Weekly WordPress Vulnerability Report (Apr 10, 2023 to Apr 16, 2023): 69 vulnerabilities were disclosed in 60 WordPress plugins and 4 themes.
