The Jetpack AI assistant is integrated as a block within the WordPress.com editor and will be useful to spin up custom content easily, for checking spelling and grammar errors, adjusting the tone, and so on.

- WordCamp Europe 2023 Keynote: Matt Mullenweg, Gutenberg Architect, Matías Venture, and Executive Director, Josepha Haden Chomphosy reflect on WordPress in 2023 and aspirations for the coming year.
- What happens when a WordCamp doesn’t provide a transparency report: Naoko Takano, localization project manager at Automattic is reminding the organizers of WordCamps why a transparency report is important and the consequences of not submitting one.
- New filter controls: Discover “commercial” and “community” in the theme and plugin directory: Two new filter controls have been added to the plugin and theme repository that help users identify the community ones from the commercial ones.
- Feature idea: Speaker profile block: Joost de Valk is proposing to build a WordPress profile bio block, which will be helpful for WordCamp organizers as it would help them pull the name, image, and bio of a speaker by just entering the WordPress username.
- WordCampers demand changes to Q&A format: WordPress core team member, Felix Arntz is suggesting for a change in the Q&A format of WordCamps. The proposed idea is to submit the questions to a central platform where they would be reviewed by the community and the best ones will be selected.
- Bug Scrub Schedule for WordPress 6.3: The bug scrub schedule for WordPress 6.3 will start with the Alpha bug scrubs on May 25, 2023.
- New curation filter in pattern directory: The pattern directory now has a new filter that allows switching between core-bundled patterns (“Curated”) and the general community patterns.
- Learners can now submit feedback when completing a course: In an attempt to further improve the effectiveness of courses that will be available on Learn.WordPress, feedback is being collected from users every time they finish a course.
- Hallway hangout: Let’s chat about WordPress 6.3 and block theming: The topic of discussion for the next hallway hangout will be about building block themes with a special focus on enhancements coming in WordPress 6.3 and those planned for 6.4.
- FSE program rapid revamp summary: An update on the FSE program rapid revamp has been published and the feedback mostly centered on iterating upon block theme previewing, improving template vs content editing clarity, confusion around which revision tool to use, and so on.
- Updates to the Community Team Mentor Program: An update on the progress of changes to the community team mentor program has been published.
- Design share: May 22–Jun 2: The design team has shared an update on a few projects they have worked on over the past couple of weeks.

Credential-stealing server side request forgery patched in Getwid
The vulnerabilities which could allow authenticated users to perform Server Side Request Forgery (SSRF) and the other which could allow authenticated users to clear and update the site’s template cache were patched recently.
- Critical security update: Directorist WordPress plugin patches two high-risk vulnerabilities: An arbitrary user password reset to privilege escalation, and an insecure direct object reference leading to arbitrary post-deletion vulnerabilities were recently patched and users are advised to update the plugin to the latest version.
- New Magecart-style campaign abusing legitimate websites to attack others: Akamai researchers have uncovered a new campaign where attackers “hijack” legitimate websites to act as a makeshift command and control (C2) servers.
- Wordfence intelligence weekly WordPress vulnerability report (May 29, 2023 to June 4, 2023): 116 vulnerabilities were disclosed in 88 WordPress Plugins and in 3 WordPress themes.

Jetpack 12.2 – AI Assistant at your fingertips
The new release introduces an all-new AI assistant block, donations, paid content, and payment buttons blocks are now available to all, support for Mastodon integration, and also includes various enhancements.
- New requirement for WooCommerce 8.2: Starting with version 8.2, scheduled for release in October 2023, WooCommerce will require PHP 7.4 or newer to work.
- WooCommerce Blocks 10.4.0 Release Notes: The new version introduces a new single product block, the old classic template has been replaced by a blockified version of the single product template, and includes various enhancements and bug fixes.
- Oxygen 4.7 beta 1 now available: The release includes a CodeMirror upgrade, auto-complete For CSS, JS, and HTML, code Folding, mixed code view for code blocks, and full search/replace operations.
- Demand for WordPress and WooCommerce has grown: The latest post from Ellipsis shows demand for WordPress is up by 11.3% over the last 12 months and demand WooCommerce is up by 1%.
- WebStudio, an open-source alternative to Webflow: An all-new no-code editor with full CSS capabilities is here.
