All the updates around WordPress and its closely related technologies
- Media library and media flows.: An outline for the media library in Phase 3 of the Gutenberg project has been published. The main goals will be to expand the media management capabilities, unify the block edit and single media interfaces, and improve upon the major media flows.
- Asynchronous Workflows: The goal of the Workflows project will be to allow collaboration between users during the editorial process. This will allow users to add comments, suggest edits and tag other users for peer review.
- Edit history and revisions: The revisions interface will also be getting an update in Phase 3 of the Gutenberg project. Also, a brief summary of the tasks that needed to be worked on is also included.
- 6.3 Live product demo: A live product demo for WordPress 6.3, the second major release of 2023 will happen on July, 20, 16:00 UTC on Zoom.
- Dropping support for PHP 5: From WordPress 6.3 onwards, the support for PHP 5 will be dropped. The new minimum supported version of PHP will be 7.0.0 and the recommended version of PHP will remain the same at 7.4 or higher.
- What’s new for developers? (July 2023): Justin Tadlock shared the developer goodies expected in WP 6.3. Officially, the launch date is August 8, 2023. So if you haven’t already, give WordPress 6.3 Beta 3 a spin.
- Expertise needed: Learn how to vet content topic ideas for the Training Team: The Training Team is looking for community members to join the team as Subject Matter Experts. These SMEs will examine the various content ideas and will also work with content creators that develop content.
- Project thread: Learning pathways on Learn WordPress: The objective of the project will be to create and launch learning pathways for various types of learners on Learn WordPress.
- Next steps for GitHub updates: The Training Team has given an update on everything that has been introduced to the GitHub project management system and has also provided details on the issues to tackle.
- FSE Program Momery makeover summary: An update on the Mongomery Makeover has been published along with the list of encountered bugs.
- Design Share: Jun 19–Jun 30: The design team has shared an update on a few projects they have worked on over the past couple of weeks.
- Google Analytics violates GDPR, says Swedish watchdog: The Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY) has cautioned companies against using Google Analytics due to surveillance risks posed by the U.S. government.
- Code Interpreter beta available for all ChatGPT Plus users: The Code Interpreter will allow ChatGPT to execute code, can access the files users have uploaded, and can also be used to analyze data, create charts, and so on.
- Threads app hits 100 million users with ‘mostly organic demand’: Threads app is quickly growing and has reached over 100 million users in less than a week.

- MalCare, Blogvault, and WPRemote plugins patch vulnerabilities allowing Site takeover through stolen API credentials: Broken cryptography to authenticate API requests from its remote servers to connected WordPress sites which could allow attackers to completely take over the site has been patched. All users are advised to immediately update the plugins to the latest version to resolve the vulnerability.
- Wordfence Intelligence Weekly WordPress Vulnerability Report (June 26, 2023 to July 2, 2023): 66 vulnerabilities were disclosed in 56 WordPress Plugins and 1 WordPress theme.
- Google confirms bug with Google News impacting publisher traffic: Google is working to resolve an issue related to indexing content from news publishers that may result in a decrease in traffic from Google News.

- WooCommerce blocks 10.6.0 release notes: The latest release brings the cart, checkout, and order confirmation templates to the site editor, new settings have been added to the mini-cart, and includes several new additions and enhancements.
- Jetpack 12.3 released: The version improves the AI assistant and it can now revise and enhance existing blocks in the WordPress Editor. This update also introduces a new Tock block and also packs in several new features and improvements.
- Drupal 10.1 is now available: The release brings forth a new experimental single directory components module, new APIs for retrieving menus configured in Drupal using the Linkset standard, various CKEditor improvements, and more.
- WordCamp London 2023 has been canceled: WordCamp London 2023 scheduled for September 23-24, 2023 will not be going ahead due to budget constraints.
- WordCamp Dhaka 2023 has been canceled: The community team has provided an explanation behind the cancellation of the event and it was mainly due to the interference of companies in the communities decision-making.
