- WordPress 6.0.2 RC1 is now available: It features 12 bug fixes on Core, as well as 5 bug fixes for the Block Editor. Please help test it.
- WordPress for iOS 20.6 is available for testing: You can sign up for TestFlight program and join as a beta tester by opening that link on your iPhone or iPad.
- WordPress for Android version 20.6-RC-1 is available for testing: You can ask to join the Beta Program at Android App Testing on Google Play. Once you have been accepted, click the “Become a Tester” button at the same link.
- WebP by default on hold for 6.1 after new objections from WordPress Lead Developers: The Performance team is doing more research and has temporarily paused committing anything else until they receive feedback on the next direction for the project. - Core Editor improvement: Refining the template creation experience: These enhancements will be available in the future WordPress 6.1 but you can explore now in the Gutenberg plugin.
- Google Display & Video 360 launches new custom bidding options: These options will allow advertisers to utilize data from Google Analytics 4 (GA4) properties and optimize bids to capture attention. Google Ads is beginning to roll out a tool that allows advertisers to self-upgrade eligible Smart Shopping and Local Campaigns to Performance Max.
- Google opens the door for Android apps that work across all kinds of devices: Google explains that it’s launching a new cross-device software development kit (SDK) that contains the tools developers need to make their apps play nice across Android devices, and, eventually non-Android phones, tablets, TVs, cars, and more.
- YouTube adds new Podcasts section: YouTube has added a new Podcasts “Explore” page that makes it easier to find podcasts. The new Explore page for podcasts may help bring more visibility to podcasts. It is also testing a new “Promotions” Tab
- Twitter to let users filter unwanted replies: Twitter users will soon be able to filter out potentially harmful and offensive replies with the help of an automatic reply filter. Twitter isn’t censoring tweets, just reducing the negativity Twitter users or account managers are exposed to.
- Twitter now has podcasts: Twitter introduced the new redesign as a way to give listeners more opportunities to connect with podcast creators.
- Internet Archive website offline for hours: The Internet Archive, also known as The Wayback Machine, suffered an outage around midnight east coast time on August 25th due to equipment failure related to networking hardware.

- WordPress Vulnerability Report – August 24, 2022: Regular report from iThemes.
- A huge phishing campaign has targeted over 130 companies: Over 130 organizations, including Twilio, DoorDash, and Cloudflare, have been potentially compromised by hackers as part of a months-long phishing campaign nicknamed “0ktapus” by security researchers.
- GitLab issues patch for critical flaw in its community and enterprise software: The flaw could have led to arbitrary code execution on affected systems. There is no evidence that the issue is being exploited in in-the-wild attacks.
- PyPI Repository warns Python project maintainers about ongoing phishing attacks: The ongoing phishing campaign aims to steal developer credentials and inject malicious updates into legitimate packages. This is the first known phishing attack against PyPI.

- Theme Redone: A new starter theme that offers a foundation for building websites and Gutenberg blocks with an MVC framework.
- Pentatonic theme: A free music WordPress block theme for full site editing ideal for musicians, bands, artists, and other creative artists.
- iFolders plugin: It helps organize WordPress media library using drag and drop.
- Add Customizer Back For Block Themes plugin: A lightweight plugin that adds back the customizer when hidden by Block Themes.
- Affiliate Coupon plugin: It helps create coupons with affiliate links on your website.

- DigitalOcean to acquire Cloudways: DigitalOcean and Cloudways have been close partners since 2014 — Cloudways currently relies on DigitalOcean infrastructure to power approximately 50% of its customers. Under the terms of the transaction, DigitalOcean will acquire Cloudways for $350 million in cash, including a significant portion of the consideration to be paid over a 30-month period following the closing.

- New Application and Database Hosting from Kinsta: Kinsta is expanding their hosting to other platforms too. Developers can now join the beta program and get temporary free access to Application and Database Hosting,
- Introducing Elementor 3.7: It includes updates like the ability to localize your workspace, a number scrubber for numeric values, a new ‘Exit to…’ location setting from the Editor etc that will help you streamline your workflow.
- Smush 3.11 available: Multiple images are processed in parallel, which makes lightning-fast processing speed a reality for your image files. There is also Retry Mechanism to recover from API side issues.
- Creator Friendliness Index ranking in website builders: WIX was first with a Friendliness Score of 79.22%, followed by Squarespace with 75.32% and WordPress with 68.33%. WordPress earned points for its free plans, integrations, and language support but lost points for its lack of available support.
