- Renaming WordPress.org Support to Documentation: The current “Support” page located at WordPress.org/support/, actually shows documentation and does not provide any method for visitors to interact with humans. Nicholas Garofalo has asked Meta to move ahead with re-titling the page and updating its nav item to “Documentation”.
- Content only editing and other locking updates in WP 6.1: WordPress 6.1 comes with content-only editing for blocks, patterns, and templates, as well as a template lock inheritance for the Column block.
- Fluid font sizes in WordPress 6.1: In WordPress 6.1, “Fluid font sizes” make their debut. This enables font sizes to adapt to changes in screen size.
- Simplified data access with new React hooks in WordPress 6.1: The
@wordpress/core-data
JavaScript package in 6.1 ships new React hooks that make accessing WordPress data easier than before. - Block API changes in WordPress 6.1: WordPress 6.1 introduces several new Block API features available via the

- Google replaces title tags with site names for homepage results: Google appears to have stopped showing title tags for mobile search results for the entire website such as in searches for the name of a website which generally show the home page.
- Microsoft Bing is getting an AI image generator: Microsoft Bing is getting an AI image generator in the coming weeks, which allows users to turn text into digital art. Image Creator is powered by DALL-E 2 image generator technology developed by OpenAI.
🚨Web Security & Vulnerabilities
- WordPress vulnerability in Shortcodes Ultimate impacts 700,000 sites: The United States government National Vulnerability Database (NVD) published an advisory about Shortcodes Ultimate WordPress plugin, warning that it was discovered to contain a Cross Site Request Forgery vulnerability.
- Cloudflare DDoS threat report 2022 Q3: This report includes insights and trends about the DDoS threat landscape – as observed across Cloudflare’s global network. It shows an increase in DDoS attacks compared to last year.
- Microsoft’s out-of-date driver list left Windows PCs open to malware attacks for years: Microsoft failed to properly protect Windows PCs from malicious drivers for nearly three years, according to a report from Ars Technica. A Microsoft spokesperson said in a statement, We have corrected this and it will be serviced in upcoming and future Windows Updates.”
- Cyberattackers spoof Google Translate in unique phishing tactic: The campaign uses a combination of tactics and a common JavaScript obfuscation technique to fool both end users and email security scanners to steal credentials.
