WordPress 6.6.1 Fixes Seven Bugs in Core

  • News

WordPress 6.6.1 was released yesterday, marking the first maintenance update since the “Dorsey” release on July 16, 2024. Spearheaded by Tonya Mork and Ella, this minor release resolves 7 bugs in Core and also contains 9 bug fixes for the Block Editor.

The Core bug fixes include underlining all links, updating the $_old_files array which caused security plugins to flag extra files in WordPress installations, and an invalid CSS issue. Core committer Tonya Mork has detailed the resolved issues here

The next major release, WordPress 6.7, is set for November 2024 and will be the third major release of the year. To stay updated on the development process, follow the #core and #6-7-release-leads Slack channels.

The Core team is also considering changing the Dev Chat times for the WordPress 6.7 release, so please share your feedback by July 31.
