Last week saw a slight decrease in the market share of WordPress and this led to a lot of discussions about the future of WordPress as this is the first time in recent years WordPress had negative growth.

- WordPress market share down to 42.9%: It was 43% at the beginning of May.

- Microsoft Bing drops anonymous sitemap submission due to spam issues: You can now only submit sitemaps to Bing using robots.txt or Bing Webmaster Tools.

- YouTube Shorts green screen now compatible with all videos: YouTube creators can now remix any video on the platform into a Short through an expansion of the green screen feature.
- Apple officially kills off the iPod: Apple has bid a fond farewell to the last model in its iconic line of iPod music players โ ending the music playerโs two-decade run.

- Millions of attacks target Tatsu Builder plugin: The issue is present in vulnerable versions of both the free and premium Tatsu Builder plugin. Please update to the latest version available, which is 3.3.13.
- Google created ‘Open Source Maintenance Crew’: Google announced the creation of a new “Open Source Maintenance Crew” to focus on bolstering the security of critical open source projects.
- Massive WordPress JavaScript injection campaign redirects to ads: It has impacted hundreds of websites already. Attackers are targeting multiple vulnerabilities in WordPress plugins and themes to compromise the website and inject their malicious scripts.
- Misconfigured ElasticSearch servers exposed 579 GB of usersโ website activity: Both ElasticSearch servers didnโt have any encryption or user authentication measures in place meaning anyone could have accessed the data without the need for a password.
- FluBot Android malware targets Finland in new SMS campaigns: Finland’s National Cyber Security Center (NCSC-FI) has issued a warning about the FluBot Android malware infections increasing due to a new campaign that relies on SMS and MMS for distribution.
- Microsoft: Sysrv botnet targets Windows, Linux servers with new exploits: Microsoft says the Sysrv botnet is now exploiting vulnerabilities in the Spring Framework and WordPress to ensnare and deploy cryptomining malware. Microsoft is also investigating a known issue causing authentication failures for some Windows services after installing updates released during the May 2022 Patch.
